New Stainless Steel Reel Frame Option

Beginning in Q1 2020, customers needing SST construction on larger-sized spring reels (SS800 and SS900 models) enjoyed notable cost savings when Hannay Reels began offering its formed channel frame style in 304 SST material. Prior to the introduction of the SST rollformed frame, construction was only available in square tubing with its higher labor content and longer lead times.
Beyond the cost savings, the channel frame has all the standard mounting hole patterns, making it easier to add accessories. Lead times are quicker as well because of the more efficient manufacturing techniques that rollform construction allows.
In 2021, we are now using the SST channel construction on a variety of power rewind reels for industrial, fire/rescue, and fuel delivery applications. Owing to the lower labor content of channel frames, these SST frames can replace aluminum square tubing construction at a lower cost, while providing greater material strength and superior corrosion resistance.
The new power and manual rewind channel frames, when compared with the aluminum frames they are designed to replace, feature a deep-flanged motor plate for extra rigidity, symmetrical motor mounting holes for greater flexibility on motor positioning, elimination of unsightly frame corner gussets, and the inclusion of all standard mounting holes on the tops and sides of the channel, making after-market addition of roller brackets, chain guards and other accessories easier.
