Reels shipped with removable cranks can now optionally be equipped with vinyl coated retaining clips designed to stow auxiliary cranks conveniently on the side of the reel for easy access.

This option is available on most of our common fire, fuel, and industrial reels.

We have recently extended our phone sales and support hours by an additional 30 minutes (Monday through Thursday).  The new hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, except for Friday when we still close at 4:30 PM.

The new graphite color, shown to the right, will offer superior performance for a variety of measures (such as salt spray hours), while exhibiting higher gloss and a visually appealing look.

Until the end of July, the older light silver will be available upon request only before being phased out.  All orders received or built after the May start date will automatically be switched to the new graphite color.

As a reminder, standard Hannay paint colors are:

Hannay Reels continues to use a durable 2-coat system on virtually all of its reels, consisting of an e-coat dip primer and an alkyd-modified high performance topcoat.

Coming in at approximately half the width of our traditional power rescue reels, the EF2500 series reel is designed for the tightest truck cabinet space restrictions.

Models that can hold 100 ft. of 5,000 psi twin rescue hose are available with overall widths of under 10 inches (add an extra 2 inches for 10,000 psi systems with larger twin hose diameters).

A custom-spun steel spool and frame assembly make for an attractive, highly durable reel.  A reversible 12 or 24 volt DC motor drives the reel with plenty of torque to spare.

Nearly any model reel ordered can now be specified with a hand truck option.  We will provide the proper mounting feet and hardware for quick and easy installation.  Different handle configurations and tire options (pneumatic or solid rubber) can be specified.

An automatic chain tensioner option is now available on several petroleum reel models (specifically, the "IV" or inverted installation series of reels).

With this accessory, chain tension is maintained better over the life of the drive system of the reel.  As normal chain stretch occurs over a long period of use, the spring-actuated tensioner maintains a constant force on the chain, lessening the need for maintenance.

The pull handle works on the following reel models:
  - AV-2 or AVD-2 (with casters)
  - AV-3 or AVD-3 (with casters)

The part number for this kit is 9949.0500 and it is also available on new reels.

Because speed is regulated by linking the power spring to an air restrictor, the result is smooth, controlled rewind speed every time the reel is used.  In particular, the AG series reels have three primary advantages over other speed control solutions:

1. Highly scalable- The air governor can be scaled up to regulate speed on even the most powerful spring reels we offer.  Other designs can only work on light-duty springs.
2. Operates in all climates- Because the AG series uses air flow to control speed, and not hydraulic fluids which degrade in performance as temperatures drop, it does not matter what the ambient temperature is for proper reel operation.
3. Fully adjustable- The user can turn the air restrictor in either direction until the optimal rewind speed is found for the application.
